The Bermo Arts Club was started in about 1948 when plays were performed in various halls around Barmouth, until Sir Clayton Russon purchased the Congregational Chapel in Jubilee Rd. This old chapel was then refurbished and opened officially as The Dragon Theatre in 1959. Since then performances have included plays, operettas, music halls, varieties, songs from the shows, pantomimes and, most recently, plays based on T.V. comedies, which have proved very popular with the summer visitors. This year we hope to perform "Fawlty Towers" every Wednesday in August. New members are always welcome, so if you are interested in joining us, why don't you come along to the Dragon Theatre on a Wednesday evening at 7.30pm. Further details from our secretary, Sue Stanford on 01341 247 305. The Bermo Arts amateur dramatic group have been around since the early 1900's. The group is a thriving drama group known for putting on a professional show that brings in an audience. Audience participation activities and sing alongs are guaranteed. They put on a summer performance running every Wednesday in August with plays such as "Allo Allo", "Are you being served", "Murdered to death", "Hi-de-hi" & "The Vicar of Dibley". The group also does Christmas pantomimes like the classics,"Alladin", "Cinderella" but all with their own little unique twist added in for a little fun. The group meets every Wednesday evening at 7:30pm in the Dragon Theatre, Barmouth. Anyone interested in either performing or in helping back stage is invited to talk to a member of the club from whom they are sure of a warm welcome. |
